In the heart of Bedford, this hotel has been furnished and decorated to an extremely high standard, in keeping with the character of the building and highlighting Bedford’s rich history. It’s been transformed into a vibrant, friendly pub, with a great atmosphere and is a beautiful place to stay. There are 31 hotel rooms, beautifully decorated, comprising family rooms, twin and double rooms, as well as those designed specifically for customers with disabilities. There are also five deluxe family suites which sleep four (two adults and two children). All rooms have en suite shower and bath facilities, plasma TV, tea- and coffee-making facilities and hairdryer. The pub has a large customer area, including a mezzanine floor with a large outdoor seating area for alfresco dining, and an extensive range of food and drink. Unlimited free Wi-Fi is available in the hotel and pub area also.

Set in the heart of Bedfordshire, Bedford is an historic county town, on the banks of river Great Ouse and near to London, Milton Keynes, Oxford and Cambridge. With undercover shopping malls, a local market weekly, winding back streets, stunning river walks, plenty of local eateries and bars, the Corn Exchange and museums, Bedford offers plenty for all visitors. Other nearby local attractions include Whipsnade, Woburn Abbey and Safari Park, Santa Pod race track, Silverstone and MK Bowl – and all of this within a 32-minute commute to central London. Luton airport can be reached on a direct train in 14 minutes.

  • Directions

    Walking from the train station, turn right out of the station onto Ashburnham Road; take the left at the roundabout onto Midland Road, following it – and the hotel will be on your right-hand side, on the corner of River Street and Midland Road.

  • Parking

    Pay-and-display parking is available throughout the town centre. Parking at the Harpur centre (opposite the hotel) is free on a Sunday. River Street car park is open 24 hours a day. Parking is free on the street and in all car parks after 6pm.

  • Local Transport

    Bedford train station is a 7-minute walk from the pub. Trains to central London take 31 minutes and run every 10–15. Trains also service Luton Airport Parkway, Brighton, Leicester and Nottingham. Buses run regularly to Oxford, Cambridge and Milton Keynes. Local taxis are available.
